Addicted

Joshua had found out a new game that he would literally throw tantrums whenever we don’t allow him to play. He goes gaga over this online game. His night isn’t complete without it. He totally forgot UP now, he’s into SHANGHAI NOON. Blame my son’s movie addiction to his dad.

His latest addiction…

petvilleNow you know. Whenever my wall is swamped with posts about this application, Joshua is the culprit.

The kids

are both sick. Joshua woke up Friday morning coughing badly though I ignore it as he was an actor most of the time. Claire, on the other hand, finished her medicines and yet her cough is still bad. We troop to their pedia last Saturday for another check-up.

Claire gained weight despite her cough. We are giving her Pred10 thrice a day plus her round the clock nebulization every hours. This makes me cranky all the time. Imagine the need to wake up every four hours for this. Gawd! The pain of motherhood is being a walking zombie when your kid is sick. We are going back for another check-up tomorrow to see if her condition has improved or not. Crossing fingers as the last words of her pedia says that she is still young but her lungs are wheezing already.

Joshua is into Salbutamol. Although, most of the time he gets cranky so we always gave in to what he wants, that is, unlimited time for computer games. He’s into Petville and what’s the watch movie during bedtime.

Pedia visit #6

Posted by CHAT at 2:30 PM 0 comments

DSC04628Her monthly check-up / immunization is scheduled at the end of this month. Early Saturday morning though, we hear her cough badly. If you knew my husband – he has a “go to the doctor immediately” attitude if he sees any sign of sickness. I can’t actually blame him as he lost his brother because of dengue last 2008.

Anyhow, we went to her pedia around 10am.  The kuya is not with us as he was occupied playing games with mini. Since her last event of cough and colds were just last month, she was given salbutamol and cefuroxime. Poor baby, as she hates the taste of her medicines. Come Sunday evening, her temperature shoot 38 degrees so we were adviced her to administer paracetamol every 4 hours.

Until now, her coughs and colds hasn’t changed and so is her temperature. She gets extra clingy and restless and doesn’t want to be put down to sleep. We just hope this would go away and that she wouldn’t be like his kuya before that has coughs every single month.

From What to Expect

Peek-a-boo, I see you! Get ready to play this classic and other hide-and-seek games as your baby starts to catch on to the fun.

Just a few weeks ago, your baby had no idea that his teddy bear still existed when he wasn't in plain view. Well, all that's changed as he's now caught on to the concept of object permanence.  That's why he loves to play peek-a-boo or find items that are "hidden" (Is that my rattle behind your back?). These "seeking" games are like brainteasers for your baby. Your little one is also gaining manual dexterity and may now be able to pass a toy from one hand to the other or rake a small object and then pick it up. He's a big babbler too, so encourage his chatter by talking up a storm yourself. Chances are he's starting solids about now; read up on the baby daily dozen to ensure he gets the nutrients he needs. And speaking of eating, some babies may start teething early so keep an eye out for signs of teething, e.g., drooling, face rash, or crankiness. Two other potentially pesky problems, eczema and food allergies, often emerge around now, perhaps triggered by the introduction of solids. What else is up? Some babies are ready to start drinking from a cup, so if yours seems interested, give it a go. But do stay safe — choose cups, baby swings, jumpers, and other baby paraphernalia wisely, and, of course, never leave your baby unattended.

DSC04537Claire still doesn’t like tummy time though she is now trying to lie flat on her stomach. She can now play with her drool. She plays with her milk. She blabs and blabs whenever someone talks to her. She loves to play “peek-a-boo” with her kuya. She caught cough and colds again for the second time – this time worst than the first as she gets clingy and restless and doesn’t want to be put down. Lastly, still 100% feed by mommy’s milk.

I still look pregnant

still pregnant-

After more than 4 months, I my tummy is still very, very visible. I can’t do sit-ups as I delivered via c-section. I don’t know how to make it disappear or even tone a little. Hence, my everyday rant - “I still look pregnant!” I got an email from BabyCenter just today and its very, very timely as I feel so hopeless and has to carry the burden of looking preggy for a lifetime.

Read on.

Your post-baby belly: Why it's changed and how to tone it

Why do I still look pregnant?

You may be very surprised by the way your tummy looks after birth. Your baby is out, but there it is, right around the navel: a big, round, squishy puffball that makes you look like you're still six months pregnant. Many women also have a dark line down their abdomen called a linea nigra and a web of stretch marks, which are actually little scars caused by the extensive stretching of skin. Those who had a c-section have surgical scars to contend with as well.

It takes time for your body — and especially your belly — to fully recover from pregnancy. Imagine your abdomen as a balloon, slowly inflating as your baby grows. Childbirth doesn't pop the balloon, it just starts a slow leak. But don't worry — it's a steady one.

From the moment your baby is born, hormonal changes cause your midsection to deflate, shrinking it back to something closer to its pre-pregnancy state. It takes about four weeks for your uterus to contract to its normal size. All the cells in your body that swelled during pregnancy will begin releasing their fluids in the form of urine, vaginal secretions, and sweat. And the extra fat you put on to nourish the baby will start burning off (especially if you're nursing and exercising). But it takes at least a few weeks to see noticeable results.

Stretch marks and the linea nigra, however, endure longer. The good news is that stretch marks usually become considerably less noticeable six to 12 months following childbirth. Their pigmentation fades and they typically become lighter than the surrounding skin (the color will vary depending on your skin color), but their texture will remain the same. The dark color of the linea nigra will gradually fade over a year, but that too may not completely disappear.

How long will it take for my belly to shrink back to normal?

We've all heard stories of new moms whose tummies are tight and flat immediately after giving birth. Although this does happen, it's rare. For most women it takes months to get rid of the "pregnancy pouch" — and sometimes it never goes away.

Patience is key. It took nine months for your abdomen to stretch to accommodate a full-term baby, so it makes sense that it would take that long or longer to tighten back up.

The speed and degree of this transition depends largely on your normal body size, how much weight you gained during pregnancy, how active you are, and your genes. Women who gained less than 30 pounds and exercised regularly during pregnancy, who breastfeed, and who have had only one child are more likely to slim down quickly.

If you're not breastfeeding, you'll need to watch how much you're eating in order to lose pregnancy weight. You need fewer calories now that you're not pregnant.

What can I do to make my belly look better?

Breastfeeding helps, especially in the early months after childbirth. Women who breastfeed burn extra calories to make milk, so they usually lose pregnancy weight more quickly than their non-nursing counterparts.

Nursing also triggers contractions that help shrink the uterus, making it a workout for the whole body. But many breastfeeding moms say they have trouble losing the last 5 to 10 pounds. Some experts theorize that the body retains these extra fat stores to aid in milk production. Science hasn't yet tackled this question definitively.

Exercise also helps. Whether it's a stroll around the block or a postpartum yoga class, physical activity tones stomach muscles and burns calories. A rigorous exercise regimen that includes an aerobic workout and movements that focus on the abdomen can work wonders. (But before starting an exercise routine, make sure your body is ready.)

Some baby bulges require more effort. A low-calorie diet can help you lose weight, but give nature and exercise time to work first. Wait at least six weeks (preferably several months, especially if you're nursing) before cutting back on calories. Dieting too soon after giving birth may reduce your milk supply and can make you feel more fatigued.

And don't go on a strict diet — women need a minimum of 1,200 calories a day to stay healthy, and most women need much more than that — between 1,800 and 2,200 calories a day — to keep up their energy and mood. To lose about a pound a week, cut out 500 calories a day by either decreasing your food intake or increasing your activity level.

If you're breastfeeding, losing more than a couple pounds a week can release toxins — normally stored in your body fat — into the bloodstream, increasing the amount of these contaminants that wind up in your milk. So if you're losing more than 2 pounds a week after the first six weeks, you need to take in more calories.

me and u Exactly 6 years ago, I made the biggest decision in my life to be with you for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer. Life wouldn’t have been the same with out. I would not have experienced a very roller coaster life if not without you. I thank God and will forever be grateful to all the memories we made, the good times we shared, and the love that keeps on growing between us. You’ve been the man I’ve been asking for, a blessing from above – one that I do not take for granted. Thank you for all the things you’ve done for me and for the kids. You have been a wonderful husband, a terrific father, provider and caregiver. You give so freely to all those you know in such a loving way. Your generosity is inspiring! I love you, Daddy ... more than words, more than life. I'm forever grateful for your love and proud to be your wife.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DADDY!

I love you so much!

Welcome to the Christian world

Posted by CHAT at 5:03 PM 0 comments

Our little girl has been welcomed in the Christian world last December 6. We had a simple party afterwards. Nevertheless, we still was able to have fun. What matters most is that we were able to dedicate Claire to our God.
