Tummy pains

Posted by CHAT at 8:54 PM 0 comments

During weekdays, my son’s morning routine starts whenever I gave his milk (he still feeds in a bottle and I have failed to wean him several times now) and turn on the TV and switch to either Disney Junior or Disney Channel. He usually skips breakfast mostly if he doesn’t like the food – which I allow, I know, I’m a bad momma. Then he takes a bath, brushes his teeth and dress him up on his uniform. By 7 in the morning, his school service would pick him up and off they go to school.

However, last Monday, right after he downed his milk, he was complaining and says his tummy aches. I was in a hurry that time (I have a schedule in DFA for passport application, more on that later) so I let the husband talk to him. I just had learned that my husband allowed him not to attend class. At first, I got mad as they have a scheduled quiz on that day. Later, I found out that he actually vomited on our bed which made my husband decide not to let him go to school.

When I was done with my application, I went home directly and took my boy to his pedia. After interviewing him on what he feels and what part of his tummy aches, his pedia confirmed it was acute gastritis that he was having.

Now, he needs to take Protexin Restore once a day for five days. I dissolved it in his morning milk. Then he needs to take Maalox for two weeks, once 30 minutes after eating and at bedtime. He has tremendously lost his appetite because of tummy pains and of being busy with play. So, I switched his vitamins back to Propan.

Hello BabyHaler

Long time no see, right? I have to rummage the back of Joshua’s closet just to find you, didn’t you know? I have forgotten you already. But it seemed you’ll be part of our every day life again for the next month.

The husband and I noticed our first born coughs every morning. It started last, last week so we immediately consult his pedia. Since the cough is only during the mornings, he was given Allerkid and Ventar. But after a week, his cough didn’t get well. Worst thing is, we hear him wheezing. So off we go to his pedia again for a follow-up consultation. The idea that is toying in my mind was confirmed by pedia. Indeed, his asthma come back. He was given an antiobiotic, Klaz, that he needs to take for the next seven days aside from the Seretide maintenance for one whole month.

He was absent for the first time in school yesterday as I wanted him to just rest. I let him watch movies in bed to avoid playing rough with my cousin. I was so strict with what he eats and forced him not to move at all. Haha! I prefer him that way just to avoid having asthma attack.

Sickies in the house

Posted by CHAT at 5:29 PM 0 comments

The kids are sick! I hear the Kuya coughing hard every morning. I’m thinking he already has phlegm. The Baby is restless as she can’t breathe properly due to her colds. Off we go to their pedia on Sunday for their check-up. We’d have to ask their pedia if he can administer the flu vaccine for Kuya as he is already due for it.

The hardest part of being a mom is seeing her kids sick. Cliche as it may sound, I wish the cough and the colds will be transferred to me. It tears my heart to see the kids suffer.

Tigdas Hangin

Posted by CHAT at 4:53 PM 0 comments

Tigdas Hangin or Roseola Infantum is a fairly mild and common viral illness that usually strikes children between 6 months and 3 years of age. Roseola is caused by a kind of herpes virus, although not the type that's sexually transmitted.

My little girl has caught the virus and had high fever Monday night. We had administered Paracetamol to her every four hours as prescribed by her pedia. She had rashes on her buttocks which I thought was diaper rashes. Her fever was on and off and so on the third day, we gave her a bath before we head off to her pedia.

Indeed, the pedia confirmed it was tigdas hangin. There were no more fever but the rashes are more visible on her face and back. She is starting to have appetite again and isn’t anymore restless.

Get well my baby Claire.

Info regarding Roseola Infantum is found here.

To the rescue

Posted by CHAT at 6:02 PM 0 comments

Yesterday has been so taxing for me and the little girl. Our day started a little bit early when I notice Claire being restless at four in the morning. She has been trying to nurse with me every single minute. I thought it was because of the weather. It was so hot even in the wee hour of the morning. By six in the morning, i felt she was a little hot than the usual. I took it as a cue and took her temperature. It was 37 degree celsius. I let her drink plenty of water.

kool fever By ten in the morning, her temperature still doesn’t change. Thank God for Kool Fever – the rescuer. During the duration of her fever, she is extra clingy to me – not wanting to be carried even her dad. She consumes little milk too and would really drink milk until the last drop if she sees her kuya drinking milk too.

And this morning, she is now back to normal. I can see the return of my bubbly Claire.

are both sick. Joshua woke up Friday morning coughing badly though I ignore it as he was an actor most of the time. Claire, on the other hand, finished her medicines and yet her cough is still bad. We troop to their pedia last Saturday for another check-up.

Claire gained weight despite her cough. We are giving her Pred10 thrice a day plus her round the clock nebulization every hours. This makes me cranky all the time. Imagine the need to wake up every four hours for this. Gawd! The pain of motherhood is being a walking zombie when your kid is sick. We are going back for another check-up tomorrow to see if her condition has improved or not. Crossing fingers as the last words of her pedia says that she is still young but her lungs are wheezing already.

Joshua is into Salbutamol. Although, most of the time he gets cranky so we always gave in to what he wants, that is, unlimited time for computer games. He’s into Petville and what’s the watch movie during bedtime.

Pedia visit #6

Posted by CHAT at 2:30 PM 0 comments

DSC04628Her monthly check-up / immunization is scheduled at the end of this month. Early Saturday morning though, we hear her cough badly. If you knew my husband – he has a “go to the doctor immediately” attitude if he sees any sign of sickness. I can’t actually blame him as he lost his brother because of dengue last 2008.

Anyhow, we went to her pedia around 10am.  The kuya is not with us as he was occupied playing games with mini. Since her last event of cough and colds were just last month, she was given salbutamol and cefuroxime. Poor baby, as she hates the taste of her medicines. Come Sunday evening, her temperature shoot 38 degrees so we were adviced her to administer paracetamol every 4 hours.

Until now, her coughs and colds hasn’t changed and so is her temperature. She gets extra clingy and restless and doesn’t want to be put down to sleep. We just hope this would go away and that she wouldn’t be like his kuya before that has coughs every single month.

Pedia visit #4

DSC04235Vaccine: IPD

Weight: 6.1 kgs
Lenght: 60 cm

The vaccine is originally scheduled last December 5 but we were so busy with her baptismal so we decided to move it a week after. Last Saturday, we were at St. Margareth around 10 in the morning and there were a lot of kids. We were 15th in the list.

Dr. Patdu decided not to give her IPD as Claire has colds and cough. Instead, he gave us medicines to treat it and we will meet this coming Saturday for her vaccine. So, her day includes three times of Salinase (2 drops per nostril) and four times of Ilosone (60 mL). She’s getting well every single day, thank God.
