AAM Alma Mater Song

Posted by CHAT at 6:33 PM 0 comments

Joshua sings this every single day in school. No wonder, he was able to memorize it in a month time.

AAMHail alma mater hail
Ann Arbor Montessori
We your loving children
Will walk our way to glory
With all the grace of God
We pledge our faith and loyalty
Hail alma mater hail
The school we love so dear.

Sickies in the house

Posted by CHAT at 5:29 PM 0 comments

The kids are sick! I hear the Kuya coughing hard every morning. I’m thinking he already has phlegm. The Baby is restless as she can’t breathe properly due to her colds. Off we go to their pedia on Sunday for their check-up. We’d have to ask their pedia if he can administer the flu vaccine for Kuya as he is already due for it.

The hardest part of being a mom is seeing her kids sick. Cliche as it may sound, I wish the cough and the colds will be transferred to me. It tears my heart to see the kids suffer.

Mommy wants this!

Posted by CHAT at 1:07 AM 0 comments

Joshua has been attending Junior Casa at Ann Arbor Montessori for the past two weeks now. They have an earlier school opening compared to other schools. My husband’s cousin whose son also goes to that school advised us not to buy any bag (big bag on that matter) as there would be no notebooks or books to buy only activity sheets which are given to the kids on a daily basis.

And so, the husband and I decided not to buy another bag and opt to use the old backpack we bought last year when Joshua attended school in a day care center.  But I’m starting to change my mind though when I saw Skip Hop Zoo Lunchies insulated bad. Perfect for my kiddo’s baon.

The downside is I can’t find any online shop here in this side of the world that sells this on-hand. All are pre-order.

I’m eyeing on two-designs for Joshua’s lunchbag: Dog or Penguin. An eye candy for the little tot =)

Guilty

I felt so bad and guilty today.

DSC05297

Earlier today, around 2 in the morning, after feeling something heavy on my foot, I heard a loud thud. I immediately went off the bed to see my little girl on the floor. She was awake although she cried when I blurted out her name.

The husband woke up too only to find out I was caressing my little girl chest while repeatedly saying I was sorry.

He got the little girl that made Claire cry louder, only to find out that she wants to be carried by me.

After a few minutes, she nursed on me and went back to sleep. At the moment, I asked my mom to check on her and see if there are changes on her moods and movements.

It was the first time ever a child of mine fell of the bed. Even when I am sleeping, I am still aware of their movements. I really felt bad now. I am scared. I felt guilty.

Panatang Makabayan

Posted by CHAT at 7:20 PM 0 comments

Woah! Thanks to my son who is in school, I have learned that there is a new version of our Panatang Makabayan. And so, I thought, I was teaching him the correct pledge. Lo and behold, it wasn't. Shame on me =)

Anyways, here is the old version of the Panatang Makabayan. This was the one I grew up with, reciting it daily after Lupang Hinirang during my elementary days' flag ceremony.

Panatang Makabayan
Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas
Ito ang aking lupang sinilangan
Ito ang tahanan ng aking lahi
Ako ay kanyang kinukupkop at tinutulungan
Upang maging malakas, maligaya at kapakipakinabang

On the other hand, here is the new version which my son and my daughter will grew up with.

Panatang Makabayan
Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas,
aking lupang sinilangan,
tahanan ng aking lahi;
kinukupkop ako at tinutulungan
maging malakas, masipag, at marangal.
Dahil mahal ko ang Pilipinas,
diringgin ko ang payo ng aking mga magulang,
susundin ko ang tuntunin ng paaralan,
tutuparin ko ang tungkulin ng mamamayang makabayan;
naglilingkod, nag-aaral, at nagdarasal
nang buong katapatan.
Iaalay ko ang aking buhay, pangarap, pagsisikap
sa bansang Pilipinas.

Throwing a fit

Posted by CHAT at 6:33 PM 0 comments

DSC05365 My husband and I have a quick movie date yesterday and watched “The Karate Kid.” What stuck to my head was how Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) taught Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) kung fu. The learning system revolved in by putting a jacket on, taking it off, hanging it up, and taking it down.

After the movie, I even joke the husband to teach our son how to be disciplined as I always receive calls from my mom every single day that the little boy is throwing a fit. I got all stressed up learning that even my mom can’t handle his attitude. He was always crying and screaming whenever he can’t get what he wants. If you scold him, he’d promise to behave but a few minutes after, here he goes again. I really don’t know what to do with him. I have tried to speak in mellow voice so as for him to understand that we were getting mad whenever he throws tantrums and for him to realize that he can’t get all he wants but to no avail. I had no choice but to put my voice in a higher tone to catch his attention and for him to follow me.

Wherever we are, we aren’t saved from shame as he’d wail on the top of his lungs whenever he wants a toy and wants to go to some place. I tell you, I have seen him lying on the floor (public places, i.e., mall) if we say “no” to whatever he wants.

He was really getting to be a hard headed boy. Good Lord, what shall I do?

Tigdas Hangin

Posted by CHAT at 4:53 PM 0 comments

Tigdas Hangin or Roseola Infantum is a fairly mild and common viral illness that usually strikes children between 6 months and 3 years of age. Roseola is caused by a kind of herpes virus, although not the type that's sexually transmitted.

My little girl has caught the virus and had high fever Monday night. We had administered Paracetamol to her every four hours as prescribed by her pedia. She had rashes on her buttocks which I thought was diaper rashes. Her fever was on and off and so on the third day, we gave her a bath before we head off to her pedia.

Indeed, the pedia confirmed it was tigdas hangin. There were no more fever but the rashes are more visible on her face and back. She is starting to have appetite again and isn’t anymore restless.

Get well my baby Claire.

Info regarding Roseola Infantum is found here.

The kids

Posted by CHAT at 6:57 PM 0 comments

Here is a recent picture of my two lovely kids before we attend church.DSC05371Claire has been an active little girl and now blabs and blabs a lot. She now knows if she’ll be left behind as she would crawl towards me and would ask to be carried. If I’ll be giving her to my mom, she’ll turn her back and cling to me. She also eats a lot and can consume Earth’s Best Second Foods in one sitting – she really have a big appetite. She can say “mama” and “papa” at times. She is now trying to stand alone without support – of course we have to be alert all the time. We can’t even leave her alone even when she’s sleeping.

Joshua, on the other hand, has been a protective Kuya to his baby (he’s claiming Claire is his baby not ours). If they are lying on bed, he’d made sure his legs are on the edge of the bed to prevent his sister from falling. If he’s taking his milk, one of his hands is holding her sister’s legs. He doesn’t want her sister to fall down and even told the latter that if she falls down, she’ll be lying beside their Tito Dennis. He will be going to big school on Monday. Although, this isn’t his first time to go to school, I am still wishing and hoping and praying all is well and that he can easily adjust to a new environment. I am also wishing his English vocabulary would widen.

On Claire’s First Birthday

Posted by CHAT at 7:19 PM 0 comments

pooh In less than a two months now, my little girl will be turning one. By this time, I should have been like the other mommies who are in full blast preparing for their kid's first birthday party. However, the husband and I agreed to shy away from the buzz of big parties and what not's. We wanted to keep the day simple and yet memorable for our small family.

We are now weighing options on how to celebrate it. Throwing even a simple party is not on our list. Even the most common Jollibee party is not also an option. Most probably, we will just go somewhere outside the skirts of the metro (it'll be rainy season on August) and spend the day there. What's important is for us to thank God for keeping my daughter safe for the first year of her life.

Should I feel guilty of not giving her a party?
